"It's Kas, he's screaming....and I can tell Demi is going to be awake as well." Derek groans before standing up from the bed, slipping on a pair of shorts, and walking slowly out of the room. "I'm coming, it's okay."
As Derek opens the door, he sees Demi sitting up in bed with her knees curled to her chest. "Oh sweetheart, I'm sorry. Let me get the baby and papa will explain everything.
Demi sniffles and looks up crying, "A-are you guys replacing me?"
Kalin walks in after Derek, kissing his cheek and sitting next to Demi, "Oh, pumpkin, no. We just had an eventful night." He boops her gently, "You're still our little girl."
Derek carefully lifts Kas into his arms and bounces him gently, "Shh, shh, shhh, its okay buddy. You're okay." He looks at Demi and smiles softly, "You'll always be our little girl, Demi. We could never replace you."
Kas keeps crying, though a little quieter than before.
Kalin laughs softly, "Your abuela." He kisses her forehead and then leans back against the wall, holding her close, "You know, I'm just like you. I was adopted when I was a few years younger than you. Into this nice Mexican family."
He kisses her temple, "Grandma. Though she would prefer aubela. Here, say it slowly with me, so you can have it perfect when you meet her. Abuela." He says slowly.
(I tried to find the written pronunciation like you would see in the dictionary, but no luck flop)
Demi presses her lips together before awkwardly scrambling off her bed. Once her feet hit the floor, she trots out to the living room and walks over to Derek, looking at Kas, "He's not hurt right?"
