Hello there, and welcome to my ad. I have a bunch of ideas I want, and the one I’m currently craving the most, all have some form of influence from anime, manga, and certain video games. So it only made sense to just collect those and make an ad dedicated to this theme.
Anyway, here’s the list:
1. Soul of the sword
My character was this swordsman who became involved in this now long thought to be legendary conflict. In a daring attack on the enemy’s leader, this sorcerous emperor is struck down and cursed to be imprisoned in his sword. He was forced to strike down his allies.
Fast forward to the present, the has modernized with funky magi-tech. It looks like our modern world, but not quite. Your character encounters my sword and then it awakens to release my character. While he’s no longer under direct control, he’s still bound to the sword and cannot move too far without carrying it.
Anyway, in terms of vibes, there’s some fish-out-of-water SOL-type stuff, but then it cranks into this globe-trotting adventure as they try to figure out how to break the sword and what happened to this conflict now forgotten. And for romantic elements, maybe there’s some like bodyguard vibes cuz the magic still has him feeling compelled to protect, and maybe some like hurt & comfort stuff going on too.
2. Reclamators Inc.
A mysterious calamity almost two decades ago! A mysterious miasma began to blanket the surface, which was hazardous to everyone, as well as hiding all sorts of monsters in the fog. Via a combination of magical tools and ritual magic, chunks of the land were torn from the ground and set afloat. Now the survivors live in an archipelago of various floating islands.
Of course, as the population grew, so did the need for more space. Enter the Reclamator’s guild. They are an organization whose work involves sending members down to the surface to scout and then tear out suitable surfaces as islands.
Most recently, the government has decided that enough time has finally passed to start an exploratory mission with the ultimate goal of seeing if they can resettle the surface and figure out how to clear the fog. Our characters will be part of this expedition.
3. Fantasy mecha and an enemies-to-lovers, battle couple arc
Sorry, but I don’t have a fun name for this one. I got a default setting for it, but I’m not feeling super committed to the initial idea, and am open to building something different. So long as we keep the general tone and vibes, of course. With said tone being that it’s tropey, cheesy, and bombastic. Like, yes, serious moments can and will happen, but like I’m also aware that this is silly too.
For the default setting, I’m picturing your archetypal evil empire and their newest weapon of oppression being these mechs. Our characters would involve this prodigy officer in the army, and the other being this very capable rebel. They’d be opposites but also similar, with like say magical abilities that mirror but are opposites of each other. Who plays what role is open.
Anyway, the rebel character would end up hijacking a special prototype from a secret facility. The Officer character would end up also in different but equally fancy prototypes and end up being tasked to retrieve the prototype. And then it becomes this sort of cat-and-mouse game. They clash as they fight over trying to sabotage/defend things for their side, and the rebel character is always slippery from being tracked and caught.
On the interpersonal side of things, we got the initial position of them holding contempt for each other, and that blossoms into this rivalry where they get into flashy anime duels both in and out of the mechs, which becomes heavy with sexual tension.
And then of course you gotta have the moments where they’re forced to collaborate with each other, or a moment where one becomes vulnerable, and the other protects them. Which shows off that they’re not all that bad, which of course only makes their feelings more conflicted. But dammit! They’re rebel/imperial scum! Why do they feel this way when they clash? Which leads to more duels that scream they need to get a room already. And then you can figure out the rest. Nothing terribly ground-breaking, just some tropey fun.
Perhaps I’m over-determining the arc for the characters, but I’m hankering for something in the above ballpark.
4. Fantasy mecha sports story
Because I’m starving for some more cheese involving mechs. We have this world where you have mech fighting tourneys as a thing. Our character pair consists of the pilot and the mechanic. Each one has their own reasons for wanting to compete and enter these tournaments to eventually win the championship. Perhaps one is a spurned partner looking to one-up their traitorous teammate, or like trying to uphold the family name as one of the best mech-smithees or whatever.
Regardless, they’re not in the best position for the other teammate they need. As the big leagues involve pricy mechs, parts, and connections. Lacking any, they team up. They’re scrappy, they got a junkheap, and some hopes and some dreams to keep it chugging.
An element I want to have is them being sort of out-of-place from the more well monied teams and their little meet-togethers at public events and whatnot. You ever watched A Knight’s Tale? You know how the characters are all like misfits/frauds due to being peasants mingling in an aristocrat’s game? Similar type vibe.
5. Fantasy wuxia
Alright, alright, I know it feels a little disconnected. But basically, the anime part is just the fantasy world and the more exaggerated and magical martial arts being tossed around. This one is pretty short cuz there’s no real plot, as I feel there’s like a bunch of different angles we could run. So, I’d rather just plot something out than try to list a bunch of ideas under this.
Anyway, the crucial stuff is that, unlike the pseudo-historical settings Wuxia tends to have, this one is all made up. However, I do want to focus on the concept of this subcultural world of all these groups and their people, who all know these fighting techniques/styles unique to their group, and the shenanigans that can ensue. Also, I want to set this in a more modern world, so we can do some fun setpieces. Like a tourney arc on a train built to withstand the contestant’s powers as they fight.

Writing expectations: Third person, past tense. Flexible on length but give me at least 2 paragraphs unless the situation is fine with something shorter.
