Ashlynn set down a box on the floor to her new dorm. She was assigned this room and yet she had no clue who her roommate would be. It wasn’t uncommon to have men be assigned with women, but it was a rare case indeed if it did happen. Either way, she sat down on the unprepared bed and texted her longtime childhood friend- who had applied to the same magic school as her. He had gotten his acceptance letter about a week after she had gotten hers.

She had been excited for him to attend, hoping they could at least have the same classes, but when it turned out they only would have homeroom together, that sort of bummed her out. Nevertheless, her message read:

“Hey! Are you done moving in yet? :3 I’m just finishing up,”

She saw the message had sent, and it was read not a moment after, and she waited for him to reply.

Coming from similar backgrounds, they met when they had been in diapers, as their families had been friends as well. And Ashlynn had always held a fondness for her friend, even though she currently had a boyfriend— who was a major ass sometimes, and she was trying to find a reason to leave him. Thankfully to her knowledge, he hadn’t been able to get into this school, so any texts he did send or calls- immediately went on silent/ignore.

Sighing, she flopped back on the bed, and looked up to the ceiling. She would finish up making her room with some magic, to make things easier.

She looked at her phone again, awaiting a reply as the sound of the entry door was being turned. Her roommate would have the opposite bedroom from the common area, so she sat back up and peeked around the corner to see who it was coming through that door.

Seth currently had his hands full with boxes of text books and clothes, along with whatever else he needed to live at college. His phone was on top of the box and he would read the message from his childhood friend and smile. He would have to text her once he was in his dorm room.

He had just come out of a bad break with his high school sweetheart and really needed this change of pace. Now he was at a new school where no one really knew him besides Ashlyn.

Seth was disappointed they they didn't have many classes together but they would have plenty of time to hangout outside of class.

He would make it to his room and open the door ready to meet his roommate. The boxes would block his sight as he walked in, kicking the door closed. "Hello there! I am Seth, pleasure to meet you" he says turning his back and putting down the boxes.

Ashlynn heard the call out and she immediately froze. Seth? As in…her childhood friend? She didn’t know what to do. Immediately covering her mouth in a gasp, she gave her phone another glance. Wondering if she would receive a text back, she remained mostly silent. She then looked down at what she was wearing and immediately flushed, tight fitting short shorts, and a loose upper shirt, showcasing what kind of bra she had on. She wondered if she should change, and then immediately used some magic to shut her door. She couldn’t have him seeing her like this, although he had before.

Seth hears the door shut and would look back, taking a step to see the closed door. "Clearly they are not a people's person" he would shrug before heading to his room, grabbing his phone "Hey, I just got to my room. Got a great roommate, they shut their door as soon as I entered."

He took off his sweat drenched shirt so he was just in shorts and his shoes as he started to unpack. He left his door open since he didnt expect the roommate to be out anytime soon.

The minute her phone buzzed she read the text and that only confirmed her suspicions more. She swallowed nervously and moved to put a blanket on herself as the room was quite chilly. She then moved and decided to put sweatpants on before she nervously reached the door handle, aiming to turn it. She didn’t respond to Seth any time soon, as she left her phone on the bed. She closed her eyes tightly before she opened the door slowly.

She nervously stepped out and moved silently towards his open bedroom door. With his back turned to her she decided to calm her nerves she would say what he had told her in the text. “Well..I’m not a people person, but…I wasn’t exactly thinking you’d be my roommate,” she tells him with a soft sigh. Leaning on the doorframe. She examined his form a bit longer before she blushed further. Damnit.. why did he have to be her roommate of all things?

Seth would freeze as he heard the all too familiar voice behind him. Shit. "Hey Ash.." he says turning around slowly to look at his new roommate. "Well this is definitely a surprise. I guess this is a thing now?" He says looking at her. The two of them were always close but they still had their own personal space, they had a place to be alone. They definitely did not have that now. Realizing he was shirtless he would grab a clean one, slipping it on

She was just thankful that they had they own separate rooms. But the common area would be..well, one where they would have to share. The common area had been supplied with a couch, a tv and basic other amenities as did the kitchen. It was a fully decked out dorm, and it felt more like an apartment than anything else. When he put a shirt on she gave a silent sigh of relief. She honestly didn’t know what to do now, and she moved towards the couch, glancing behind her. “You know.. I should’ve double checked who my roommate was..” although she wasn’t complaining, he could definitely tell that.

He would watch her walk away and follow her, sitting next to her on the couch. "Well we always talked about having an apartment together after college, guess we just have to start sooner." He says kicking his feet into the coffee table. "So first thing first is we should probably set some ground rules I guess? Or we can just wing it and decide as we go" he says admitting to himself that this was a bit awkward and would probably continue to be so regardless what they did. Regardless, it went without saying that he was glad to be able to spend more time with her.

She leaned her head back on the couch, glancing up at the ceiling. At the mention of ground rules, she hummed up a response, wondering what she would say. “Mm..perhaps if we bring anyone over…we should tell the other if we are doing so? So no surprise guests?” She suggested, even though he would figure it meant mostly him, as she knew he recently broken up with his high school sweetheart and he hadn’t been taking it well. For her though, she didn’t really think she would bring over any other friends. The only friend she would have would have been him, but guess that was out of the question now.

Seth would nod without thinking on it. It was sound and made sense. He figured she would be bringing her boyfriend over quite often. "Yeah that works. I don't exactly plan on bringing people over since I just have you here." He says thinking on other rules "only other thing I can think of is that you aren't allowed to cook. My parents are still remodeling after you tried making that birthday cake"

She remembered the incident and grimaced lightly, “What…you don’t want me to burn down the place?” She joked, but knew she most definitely wouldn’t be cooking any time soon. She remembered the accident like it had been yesterday. She closed her eyes and gave a small sigh. “Don’t think I’ll be bringing over Garret any time soon,” she mentioned to him next.

He would let out a sigh of relief. While he normally supported his bestie, Garret was the one thing he was strongly against. "Did you two get in a fight again? You should just get it over with and leave him Ash" She says looking concerned and worried for her but at the same time annoyed about that prick of a boyfriend she had

Ashlynn looked over to him and her eyes gave a tale of knowing. “We did..” she trailed off, “And you know I’ve been trying to..” she admitted but she hadn’t told him about the threats she had received if she did leave him. Harm would come to her friend, Seth, and his family. Let alone her own family as well.

Garret was a very powerful mage, his magic type was fire based, and her and his type never really went well together. If anything she was much suited for a water type like Seth.

She let him wrap her up in an embrace and she gave a soft sigh as she rested on his chest. Hearing about ice cream and gaming she gave a small laugh. “Did you buy ice cream?” She asked, and looked to the tv. He would have to bring his gaming system out for them to play together. She enjoyed this closeness they shared, wanting the closeness to not end any time soon.

“Mm… chocolate,” she said absentmindedly, closing her eyes as he began to play with her hair. He knew she enjoyed that specifically. At the mention of booze she didn’t really drink but she’d figured a glass or two wouldn’t hurt. “But you know, this feels really good,” she murmured out to him.

She normally had her hair up in a short style, as she preferred, but her hair was down for this time being. She felt him twirl his fingers in her strained and rub her back. “Mm..if I didn’t know any better, I’d say you’re trying to get me to fall asleep on you again,” she teased him with a slight smile on her lips.

She knew he winked at her, even though her eyes were closed she gave a soft laugh. “You know I can tell when you wink at me..” she murmured up and opened her pretty brown eyes, looking up at him. “And I’m only warm when I’m near you,” she murmured out softly, she could never figure out why. For being a water/ice magic user, his body temperature ran oddly hot.

Ashlynn gave a soft scoff at his words and a roll of her eyes. “Oh please,” she laughed slightly, and put a hand on his chest, pushing him away slightly. “Let’s get that ice cream and booze we talked about,” she said moving to get up from the couch. Sometimes when she got up suddenly, she would become lightheaded, and if Seth was watching he would see that happen, as if the world was spinning for her.

She stumbled back slightly as he soon stabilized her, her eyes shutting and squeezing tight as she tried to reorient herself. “Yeah..I’m..okay,” she says to him, but he could tell she hadn’t really been telling the truth. “Actually, I’ve been feeling quite queasy in the mornings and haven’t been feeling great when eating certain foods..” she did remember that her last period hadn’t been for a while and now she was worried she was pregnant. God she hoped not, especially with Garret, if anything she would hope she wouldn’t carry it to full term. If that was the case.. then she worried what kind of a reaction Seth would have..

Seth would frown more as she talked about how she and been feeling lately. His first thought was probably what was running through her head right now, that she was pregnant. He didn't know how to feel or react about that, but then again it didn't matter how he felt. "Hey ash, do you have any pregnancy tests just in case? If not I can get you some"

“I do.. I just have to.. get them from the stuff I packed,” she says and looked a bit worried, her complexion paling a bit. “God..what do I do if I am?” She asked, looking at him with concern. She hated that she usually had to test regardless, because she knew Garret didn’t let her be on birth control, and he refused to wear condoms.

"If you are we can talk things out. I can't make this choice for you but I am here to support you. Maybe it's just a false pregnancy or something. Or maybe it's an immaculate birth" he says trying to lighten the mood a bit. "Let's take the test first and then we can worried about what to do next. No sense doing it yet" he says as he guided her to her room

She gave a soft sigh and nodded as they went to her room. She moved to shuffle through some things and went to get a pregnancy test. She then headed off to the bathroom connected to her bedroom, and after a minute or two he could hear her sigh in relief. “Nope, not pregnant!” She called and then the sound of the toilet flushed. She soon washed her hands and then exited out, giving him a look of relief, “that would have been terrible,” he would hear her mutter out.
