Life had been hell lately for Jack. His boyfriend ended up cheating on him and kicked him out of their shared apartment. He had lost his job not too long ago, some crooked bullshit happening in the company and they let him go. He didn't care at first, his boyfriend being sweet and loving, telling him not to worry. Now he needed to worry and was homeless. He had managed to get by, sleeping on the couch of an old friend who seemed to be getting annoyed with him. He had been trying his best by applying to jobs, but no one had gotten back to him for a while. Feeling quite desperate, Jack resorted to less than legal means to pay his friend back. He found it easier to steal - pickpocketing from those wandering by. Either in alleyways or in the subway late at night, later selling the items in pawnshops in the morning. As he had been finding rather valuable items, the owner didn't mind.
Jack was certain he was about to be kicked out, his friend wondered where he was getting the money from if he had yet to find a job. He kept telling him not to worry, that he had his ways. Walking through the quiet night streets, he was getting worried. His friend kept telling him he didn't want to end up mixed into anything illegal. How could Jack reveal that was exactly how he was getting his money?
Jack paused hearing some noise in an alleyway not too far from him. His usual spot? Could be a good spot to try tonight. Stepping closer to the area, he peeked around the corner, spotting some men talking. Huh, a drug deal? It was the only logical conclusion - two men being sneaky in an alleyway late at night. Hmm, wouldn't he score pretty well by selling drugs? He considered it, unfortunately too long as one of the men stopped and looked right in his direction. He didn't seem too pleased, the man yelling at him to get lost.
"Huh? Hey, you're not exactly being subtle here." He called out back at the man, the other growing angry with him. "You gotta be more sneaky than this!" He taunted, trying to hide his laugh. Ah, shit, maybe he should run? It looked like the guy was coming toward him, after all.
