Game RP The Fallen's Roses (RedCoat)

Lazuli's eyebrows furrowed as she closed her eyes, a look of concentration on her face as she balled her fist, the symbol giving a soft golden sheen before... Marrons eyes would slide off her sister, finding herself unable to focus on Lazuli. She knew her sister was there, but that was purely because she'd been looking when the power had activated. If she hadn't known, Lazuli would have just faded into the background.

As the power activated, her attention just forced to shift away, unable to lay eyes on her properly, Marron knew that if she wasn't aware of Lazuli...or perhaps if she wasn't marked as well, she surely wouldn't be able to even notice the change. "That's one"

"If he wants to try his luck, I'll make it his last gamble." Marron said as she pulled the dress aside. She didn't use it to talk to Slackjaw. She didn't want to give him the thought she was capable of seeming soft. She dragged the leathers out, laying them down.

Lazuli reached into the options they had and pulled out a set of general, commoners clothes. They were torn, ragged things but for the purposes of simply being clothes, they were fine. And she was used to them, having spent time begging on the streets wearing them before, when times were incredibly tough.

Lazuli followed her out into the district, the normal sounds of the city washing over them, as well as an announcement from the city watch about a sailor reported missing by his family. Lazuli looked down, slightly ashamed at her role, but knowing that he'd happily chosen to chat her up, it wasn't too deep.

Marron heard the announcement...but didn't feel a glint of shame. It wasn't her fault, she had no other choice but to shoot after all. Atleast...thats what sge was willing to tell herself and anyone else. She had found a target and had granted herself the unenviable position that she would take someone's life away if she could stand that much taller.

As they continued through the district, they'd see guards on patrol, but they paid no attention to the sisters, seeing nothing more than a pair of down on their luck citizens, likely heading to somewhere they worked. But the further they progressed, the less guards there were, whilst most street corners had a group of men, blades worn openly despite a recent proclamation forbidding open display of weapons in such a manner.

Marronvlaosed his marked hand inti a fist as she passed the armed men on tye corner, hearing them whisper amongst themselves. Some others on the district streets were sitting ariund, cooking on open grills, passing around food even in a shithole like this. The price...well, you either tried to haggle or put up with the prices.

As they continued onwards, the groups of armed men would get more common, until eventually they were there, the entrance to the Distillery itself. The home of the Bottle Street Gang and Slackjaw. At the gate, two men smoked and talked loudly, putting out a clear attitude of carelessness, an act to intimidate visitors. But when one saw Marron and Lazuli, he nudged his friend and pointed, the conversation turning "Well, if it ain't Slacks favourite girlies. Back for more charity?" One laughed, the other sneering "Where's the dress, eh? Y'know the lads like it when you pretty up"

Marron eyes flicked between them, her expression a razors edge. Her blood heating with fresh disdain. "We're paying back Slackjack, take us to him." She said as her posture rose, an air if authority on her. She wasn't going to be set off by these two chuckle fucks. They weren't worth the cost of the bullets. Even if her fingers were itching to spill one of their brains along the pavement as a message.

The sneers didn't shift, one reaching and knocking on the gate, whispering a coded phrase that soon had the door open. But before Marron could walk in, one of them reached out and grabbed Lazuli, holding her in place "You can go in. But she stays here. Anything goes nasty in there, you lose your sister." He threatened, Lazuli wincing as he squeezed her arm tightly, her eyes full of worry as she looked at Marron. The man holding her chuckled softly "Don't be so scared, pretty girl. I'm sure your big sis will do all she can to behave and keep you safe..."

The man holding Lazuli flinched at the click, but almost as soon as she'd finished speaking, three more men had appeared from within the distillery, each armed and staring Marron down "Don't make this any harder than it has to be, Girls. We ain't gonna hurt her, unless you misbehave. Go pay your due to the Boss, and she'll be here waiting for you." The other one by Lazuli had shifted a knife out, raising it up enough to where Lazuli could feel it against her back "M... Marron, j... just do what they say" She begged, fear in her eyes.

Marron eyes flashed, her hands still in her pockets, that devil that lived on both sides of her shoulders only whispering further. She could kill the one with the knife, the. The other. She was quite a fast shot, but the rest would have to be hands on. Her hand stung, prickling, urging. To pull on the thread of power and see what would come. But her eyes fell back on Lazuli, and the thinnest scrap of preservation slipped in between her outrage and her noble pride. Her trigger finger stayed still. Barely. "If I even think a scratch is on her. I'll hang your insides on this gateway. All 5 of you." She said without an ounce of quiver or mere fury. It was a promise. She stepped inti the gates slowly

The man holding Lazuli shrugged, even as the group dispersed, one of them leading Marron further in, towards where Slackjaw waited, leaning against a wall "Ah. Marron. Guess you got our note." He spoke bluntly "Simple question. Do you have the money, or are you here to arrange some other method of paying?"

Slackjaw looked down at the pouches with a sigh, shaking his head "You know the deal, Marron. 50% markup on items. Needs to be worth 75 if I have to fence it. You agreed to this when I lent you the money in the first place." He crossed his arms as he looked her in the eye "After all, isn't this all for Lazuli? Keep her from ending up in the Golden Cat?"

Slackjaw took the watch, popping it open and nodding "Fine. Square. But before you leave, I wanted to offer you a job. Something more suited to your talents than taking your sister around pubs to bait idiots into alleyways. You're too good to waste yourself like that, and lets be honest, She's not mean enough."

Slackjaw nodded "I do. Funnily enough, my boys get strange looks when they head into the posher areas of the city. But you two? You've got the attitude of a noble, even if you haven't got the money to back it up, and I don't think I've met someone in this city easier to like than your sister. Figure you two together can get plenty of places. Help me expand my business." He watched her closely for her reaction "It'd pay well. And none one's gonna mess with someone like you on my payroll."
