Brought this from my personal notepad, figured anyone could read what I had begun to think of. I feel like it could’ve had potential but eh
Princess Mei Lin had been born during the 13th year of the Yan Dynasty, and was gifted with a most terrible fate. Ever since she was born, she had faced many hardships.
Firstly, her mother had been of low status — and had died shortly after giving birth to Mei Lin. Not to mention that her mother was also one of the few consorts his majesty the emperor had spent barely any time with. Knowing that, growing up was no easy feat— when she was the only princess in the Emperor’s Palace, one would think her father, the Emperor would dote on her and spend much of his time with her.
But, she barely saw him. She had been confined to a pavilion far away from the palace and she had been rarely spoken of amongst court officials. To the public eye, she probably didn’t even exist. She believed her father hated her, and didn’t want it known that he had a child with such a lowly consort.
Mei Lin may have been the eldest princess, but she was the tenth child out of nine older brothers. Her palace maids took pity on her, and one elder servant who had taken care of her when she was young— had been her aunt. She was sister to Mei’s mother, and to Mei Lin’s knowledge — her mother did not have any surviving family other than her aunt Xue.
