It had been some time since the origin of the vampire and lycan story, and now in the modern world— it was all too common to see a vampire or a lycan out on the streets. They were no longer myth and legend, and unfortunately it was even more apparent how much each species held animosity towards one another.

But not all vampires and lycans hated each other. Some had made friendships lasting centuries. Others had even had relationships, but a viable pregnancy never truly occurred as the species, even with mixed dna also seemed to be at odds with another.

In this city specifically, there was a large manor that housed some vampire royalty, and had elder vampires who knew that certain bloodline to be pure and untarnished, not even a human had existed in the family tree. From the very first turned to the most recently born.

From the royalty, there were two siblings, one male and one female— and they were about five years apart. But both had lived since the start of their friendship with the local lycan pack, which had been established 50 years ago. And It was drilled into them at a very young impressionable age that although lycans could be their friends, having relationships with each other past friendships was forbidden.

Evelyn, the sister, thought that tradition was boorish, as she didn’t see why vampires and lycans couldn’t have romantic relationships as it was studied that a hybrid could potentially be stronger and better than both species separately. But she figured the rules were in place for some reason and she was frustrated she couldn’t ask on why.
-
On the other hand, the Lycan pack knew vampires to be tricky bastards, sometimes using the females as their own personal pets. Which was difficult because like traditional wolves, lycans also imprinted on their mates and mated for life— which theoretically sucked because some vampires had multiple partners. But there wasn’t really anything they could do in that situation.

Growing up, the two siblings that belonged to this pack, also knew about the two siblings to the vampire ‘royal’ family. These lycan siblings were both born in high positions themselves as the eldest- he was destined to be the next alpha, and the youngest, he was destined to be the next beta.
-

Evelyn looked out of a large window, she had heard the lycans were coming over to discuss certain matters discussing the uprising of some human clans, but wasn’t exactly sure why humans were becoming so bold in this day and age. She knew her parents would be discussing with the leader of the lycans but she was instead hoping that he would be there as well, given that he was next in line for the alpha position, she wouldn’t be surprised.

(I... thought Eve was going to be the Lycan on this one?)

As Evelyn looked out of the window, across the mansion grounds, she'd see the car being driven across, a large limousine, made more regal by its sheer lack of opulence. Then, as it came to a halt outside the doorway, it's passengers being let out by their human chauffer, she'd first see the younger brother of the pack step out, stretching his arms and legs as he took a deep breath of the fresh air, his long red hair cascading behind his head as he stepped for the door, his clothes loose and covering. Then, the one she had been waiting for stepped out, his well muscled form revealed by the tight clothes he wore, his own red hair close cropped to his skull. He looked up at the window, and even with the distance between them, she'd see the warm smile on his face as he looked up towards her... but then his parents stepped from the vehicle, and the four of the Lycans stepped through the door and were hidden from her view...

(Hehe I decided last minute plus, that’s also why I chose two siblings for the vamps so we could do both XD I also see you chose red hair for them :3 I’m thinking major gothic vibe for the vamps, well, especially the older brother)

Evelyn watched as the limousine pulled up and then stopped, her eyes fixating on the doors and wondering exactly when he would show up. The minute he did, she noticed how he looked her general direction, and she couldn’t help but feel a bit shy as he did. She didn’t know why she would, she had known him for quite some time. Either way, when they disappeared from her sight she hurriedly went downstairs, hoping to catch another glimpse. It had been a couple of months since she last saw them, and hoped this time she would be able to speak to him at least.

(Ooh, okay. BTW, Adams brother might have a little secret. ;) )

As she hurried on her way, the change in the covens atmosphere would be tangible, whispers and hushed conversations flying as the arrival of the Lycans was discussed “Mutts…” one mutter would catch her ear, but before she’d be able to address the speaker, Adam would step around the corner, almost straight into her, looking over his shoulder to talk to those behind him.

(hehe so does Evelyn’s >:3)

Evelyn looked briefly towards the person who spoke ill of the lycan family, but before she would be able to say anything she bumped into someone. She gave a small ‘oof’ and backed up while closing her eyes. “I’m terribly sorry-“ she began, cutting herself off when she opened her eyes and saw it was Adam she bumped into.

Evelyn’s older brother however was far less social. He stood atop of the grand staircase, his gaze shifting down towards the lycans. His eyes were cold and unwavering, it would be hard to tell what he would be thinking. In line for the so called ‘throne’, he would be attending the discussion as well, and he moved to head towards the meeting room. His gaze had briefly fell on Adam’s younger brother but one couldn’t really have noticed, since it seemed the young prince was very ofstandish. Of course he had known the lycan family as well as his sister, but hadn’t really shown much interest in ‘friendships’.

(If they both have the same secret I’m gonna laugh my ass off, I STG)

Adam barely moved as Evelyn bounced off him, his head turning to look at her “Oh, it’s no bother” he smiled, offering a hand to her, both to shake and to help her stand back up, either not recognising her or playing it cool.

Meanwhile, Ashley grumbled to themself, staring at the ground. They hadn’t wanted to come, wanting instead to stay away from the coven and all the politicking. Instead, here they were, bloodsuckers staring at them openly, some welcoming, some hostile and some acting aloof, like the prince on the staircase.

Evelyn was a bit dazed as he helped her up and completely acted cool in her presence. She stared at him momentarily before she stepped back and loudly announced, “Watch where you’re going next time,” she said a bit curtly, but Adam would know she was just putting on a show as the other vampires were staring at her like a hawk.

A servant boy, merely shy of his 20th birthday was watching from the shadows. He too was a vampire but wasn’t high ranking like the others around him. He had come from a small family who was in debt to the royals, and in turn they had sold off their only son to pay that debt back. He briefly moved his gaze over to Ashley, his deep ruby eyes focusing on her pretty face.

Adam nodded to Evelyns words “Of course Princess. My error.” He replied, still quite curtly. But somewhere deep in his eye she’d see a glint of something, something she couldn’t quite place, but she’d know it meant he understood why she’d said what she had.

Ashley continued to look at the ground, until her hackles raised, feeling eyes staring at her she raised her head, finding the eyes of the servant and glaring at him until he looked away, ears pinned back in a symbol of aggression. But as much as she wanted to show that aggressive nature, it would just make her pretty face that much cuter to the Vamp staring at her.

She turned her nose down at Adam, “Good, at least you know your place,” she spoke and briefly glanced over to his brother. She always knew him to be very quiet, and she hasn’t really seen of him much. But up close and personal she noticed he seemed to have a very feminine face. But disregarding that fact she turned on her heels. “You’re expected to see my parents, I’m assuming you know the way or do I have to show you where it is again?” She asked, beginning to lead the way up the staircase. She had seen the certain look in his eyes and figured he understood her current situation.

The boy gave a surprised look as Ashley turned her gaze towards him and shyly looked away. He had figured out early on that Ashley had been a female, anyone could have easily guessed it, but he figured that information was quite sensitive.

Adam growled a little at her words, playing along with the performance as he followed her, even if he understood, he still had to make it look good for those watching “Hmph. I might not have visited recently, but I’m sure I can smell your parents out with ease, little girl.” He replied, shooting a glance at her brother and wondering what he’d make of the show.

Ashley turned away when the Vamp that had been staring her down looked away, her ears flicking back up as she followed her brother and Evelyn, their path taking them closer to Evelyn’s brother, letting him see more of Ash. Well, if he wanted to.

Cayden watched as Adam and Evelyn put on their little show and he gave no expression towards what he really thought of it. He had thought the exchange was just downright ridiculous. There were few and far between of those in this coven who actually disliked the lycans, as the majority of the vampires didn’t mind them being here. And not to mention his and Evelyn’s parents were on good terms with Adam’s and Ash’s parents so this little show his sister had put on was unnecessary.

He briefly glanced over to Ash as he approached and he couldn’t help but notice that Ash had seemed more feminine in appearance than he originally had seen. No matter though, that fact didn’t change anything because like his sister, he had never much gotten to know Ash- as the younger brother seemed to always be quiet and never really spoke much.

Evelyn gave a slight roll of her eyes as Adam retorted that he could ‘smell’ her parents out. With that she stepped aside as the double doors were opened by servants. She watched Cayden move inside first, and she remained out, knowing she didn’t really have to be there as she wasn’t first in line.

As Ash stepped past Cayden, she’d flick her eyes to meet his, watching for any movement, tending to react, even as he’d find himself questioning himself, as to why he’d never gotten to know Ashley. Of course, in his mind, she was male, and the feminine feature’s wouldn’t factor into the attraction he felt towards the long haired ‘brother’ of Adam.

Speaking of, Adam confidently followed Cayden in, carefully pulling Ashley behind him to force Evelyn in as well, before the door snapped shut behind them, Adam immediately moving to kneel respectfully alongside Ash at the foot of the Vampire lords throne.

Cayden moved to stand by his father’s throne, his face remaining in a neutral position. He glanced over the lycans ever so briefly- he had noted that Ash had caught his passing glance, but in his mind he didn’t think on it too long.

Evelyn remained towards the back of the room, before being ultimately called up by her mother, and she gave an internal groan. She never had wanted to be apart of these things, but it seemed like she wouldn’t have much of a choice. Adam after all had ‘accidentally’ moved her inside.

The vampire lord looked at the lycan family and motioned for them to rise up. “Please, dear friends— you know you don’t have to be so formal,” he spoke to them, knowing this time was a discussion of possible war between the humans, such formalities wouldn’t be needed.

Adam and Ash stood when prompted, the younger sibling leaving all conversation to the elder as Adams voice rang out “Thank you, my lord, but respect is always due to the hosts of the occasion.” He smiled, before the smile began to fade “A shame the occasion is what it is. Our pack have been assaulted by multiple human tribes. Some even armed with silver.”

The vampire lord frowned, “In this day and age you’d think they let old feuds go..” he muttered and moved to stand. He motioned the lycans to come over to the table, wanting them to sit and discuss these plans with him.

Cayden and Evelyn followed their father and mother, moving to sit with them as well. Once all settled, their father gave a disturbing statement. “I know you mentioned silver.. we’ve seen a rise of new silver weapons along with uv weapons as well.” He paused and moved to open a case full of what he was speaking of.

“Uv bullets and silver nitrate bullets specifically,” he explained further, showcasing the bullets. The uv bullet was glowing a faint blue, whereas the silver nitrate had liquid silver in it. “One shot from a uv bullet and we vampires disintegrate immediately upon contact. With the silver nitrate bullet, the liquid goes straight into the lycans’ bloodstream and it’s impossible to dig it out, quickly poisoning the victim.”

Evelyn was shocked and in disbelief. She knew her family had found a way to walk in daylight but a bullet to specifically to kill them in the old fashioned way was barbaric to say the least. Not to mention the silver nitrate bullet, and she glanced to Adam, a flash of worry crossing her face.

Cayden however wasn’t impressed. He had thought the humans to have make more than just bullets, and when his father mentioned that wasn’t all, he genuinely was surprised.

“Humans have stolen the vampires old technology of how to eradicate us vampires and the same with the lycans,” he moved to show images of other weapons, some were silver laced, others uv ridden. These weapons ranged from arrows to grenades and much more.

Adam narrowed his eyes as the various new tools of death were revealed, before he reached into his coat, removing an already opened letter "Old Technology, yes. Stolen... No." He murmured, handing it to the lord "My father took this from one of our assailants. It documents everything. And the ones who sent it were the old lords of the manor here. The ones you drove out decades ago. Clearly their exile has done little but rankle and poison their minds." He sighed, shaking his head "I had hoped its contents were fearmongering... but this... The idiots have armed the humans to wipe us out, and themselves along with us."

Ashley reached out, gently plucking one of the UV bullets from the table and looking at it "How... How could anyone even design this..." She muttered, keeping her voice deep and gravelly as she'd practised a number of times. Of course, compared to her brother she still sounded very... feminine, but not enough for anyone not in the know to realise she was flat out female. Adam knew, of course, but their parents had asked to keep it secret. After all, much better for the packs health to see two brothers working together, than a brother leading a sister along.

The lord looked over at Adam and gave a worried look at the letter that was presented to him. He grasped it and then read over its contents. “What..?” He asked, rather calmly but it really wasn’t a question, more like a statement of disbelief.

Cayden glanced at Ash when he spoke, looking to the bullet. He gave a soft scoff, “Humans have always feared those who they cannot control,” his voice was low, and practically monotone. He never really held much emotion in his voice but it wavered slightly as a tinge of fear could be heard. These bullets— especially in the wrong hands could mean great harm to him and his family. He looked over to Evelyn, his dear sister, he knew he’d do anything to protect her.

Cayden then looked to his father who had set the letter down and heard his father clear his throat before speaking. “I think we need to have reinforcements first and foremost, before we start assessing what to do about the humans and their..partners,” the vampire lord worried that what they had currently wouldn’t be enough…unless they joined forces with the lycan clan and merged both species temporarily in the same place.

Adam nodded to the Lord, giving Cayden a glance at his words "I doubt the whole monsters hiding in the dark helped our case." He shrugged, not noticing the slight waver in the Princes voice "But the main issue here is we need to disrupt the link. The only silver mines for miles lie in territory claimed by your exiles. Our pack has our own castoffs, but I doubt they're organized enough to be involved. If we can break the humans and the exiles into two disparate factions, we can exploit any infighting that occurs."

Ash however noticed the waver in Caydens voice, turning her head to look at him more clearly, her eyes flicking over his face as she searched for any other hints of the fear he was clearly feeling, wondering if it was for himself or others... But then she realised it didn't matter. She placed the bullet down carefully, even as she stepped back to Adams side, suddenly self conscious that she'd drawn attention to herself, shyness overwhelming her instinct to be helpful.

The vampire lord nodded in return to Adam’s statement. “True, we should gather a party then, perhaps those who are more familiar with the area,” which meant a team of mostly his men. He figured he could have a scout at first to get the real situation underneath their belt. But the other issue that was bothering him was the fact of the uv weapons.

“What does this mean for the uv weapons though?” Cayden had spoken up this time, his voice had pushed aside any worry he had previously and now was firm and ready for any action that would need him to partake in. “We can break up the infighting all we want for the silver mines but the uv weapons..”

Evelyn knew that her brother had a point. As much as she was concerned for Adam and his family, just focusing on the silver mines would not be enough. She looked briefly to Ash as he moved back to Adam’s side, thinking that perhaps he was worried about his brother, just like she was.

Adam sighed, before shaking his head "Until we learn the secrets of their manufacture, we can't touch those. I... would hope that the exiles are not complete fools and haven't shared the secrets with the humans, but if they have, the only effective option would be to assign Lycan guards to all noble Vampires. It is unlikely humans will come armed with Silver to kill a Vampire, and the UV weapons would not effect my kind, beyond a mild irritant." He suggested, placing his hands against the table "If needs be, myself and Ash can take that role today. Either for you two, or your children."

Ash blinked in mild shock at her brothers suggestion, not expecting it and honestly being slightly afraid of what could happen. After all, as a bodyguard she'd have to ditch her loose, obscuring garments for tightly wrapped armour, and then... her secret would be out. And suddenly the strong position her family held with two sons would be broken, as wolves across the region would compete to earn her and her position, to insert themselves into the contest for pack leadership. She bit her lip, quietly making an excuse to her brother before heading for the door, her skin paling slightly as her mind raced with worries. Her path took her reasonably close to Cayden, where he'd moved to, and he'd see... well, he'd see a very worried Ash, in 'his' normal loose clothes and long hair heading to leave for some unknown reason.

The vampire lord was surprised to hear Adam’s suggestion, and noticed how his younger brother had to excuse himself, probably because the idea of body guarding wasn’t something he had been used to. The lord sighed and leaned back in his chair. “We have our own bodyguards..” he began and then thought on it. “Yet..I’m not opposed to the idea,” he explained now.

Cayden, on the other hand didn’t like that idea, and watched as Ash left the room. Of course, Cayden knew in physical strength, he’d probably beat the lycan, considering how small Adam’s younger brother seemed. He shakes his head towards his father, “I don’t think it’s such a good idea..” he began.

Evelyn, on the other hand, found herself nervous. If Adam became her bodyguard.. she’d have to keep up the act towards him even longer. Even though she really didn’t want to. She chewed her lip lightly at the thought of him being so close to her.

Well, Evelyn probably wouldn't... honestly, she'd probably have been able to stop the act ages ago, but it had become almost like a little game between them, the pair squabbling all the time and generally enjoying the arguments. They'd already chosen words to signal it had gone too far, and Adam nodded to the Lord "Yes. Vampire Guards, who will be just as vulnerable to UV bullets as you are. Myself or Ash however would just laugh if those hit us." Adam glanced over at the retreating form of Ash as the door closed behind her, before glancing at Cayden "What? Don't you trust my brother?" He asked, narrowing his eyes a little "Or is there some other reason?"

Cayden looked surprised from Adam’s question and even that was a lot of emotion from the vampire. “Trust him? He doesn’t even look fit enough to put up much of a fight,” he would hear him retort. He shook his head and heard his father chime in. “Cayden,” he said firmly, “They’re offering protection, and Adam does make a good point..regardless of physical ability, Ash would still be able to not be harmed by such a thing as you would..” he reminded his son and Cayden just had a small grumble before turning away from the table and heading out to where Ash had gone.

Evelyn knew about their banter, but sometimes it felt all a little too real for her. Sometimes she worried herself that Adam wasn’t playing any longer, and that made her nervous in itself. But it settled on the fact that her father agreed to body guard lycans, even if the method was a bit dated. Vampires hadn’t needed lycans for a body guard in ages, but considering the current situation, it would make sense.

The meeting ended with them deciding on building a team of vampires to go and see if they could seize control of the silver mines, and the team would be hand selected by her father.

Adam watched Cayden go, before shaking the Lords hand as they all agreed together on the final decision. He then turned to Evelyn and gave a soft bow to her "So, My lady. Where might I escort you?" He asked teasingly, lifting her hand to give it a gentle kiss before letting it drop back to her side, wondering how she'd react, even as he thought for a moment about their little game... maybe it was time to end it... before things took a turn too far...

Cayden wouldn't have to go far to find Ash, who was hunched over and staring at the ground, barely aware of anything around her as he approached, but when he got closer she'd jump, turning to face him and waiting for him to speak, not really wishing to answer as they stood face to face, no other distractions, nothing to obscure her features from him. Just the two of them, alone in a corridor, one a Vampire Lords scion, the other his new bodyguard.

Evelyn seemed a bit flustered at Adam’s sudden gesture and she slowly moved her hand away from him after the had kissed the top. “I-“ she began and noticed her family wasn’t looking at her anymore. “You shall escort me to my room,” she told him next, a little firmly. But she noticed how he was teasing her again. She wondered how she would respond to further teasing. She was getting a bit disheartened at it but decided against saying anything.

Cayden scrutinized Ash’s face a bit before scoffing and rolling his eyes. “Some bodyguard,” she would hear him say. “If I didn’t know any better I’d say you appear too soft to be a proper body guard.” He moved and put a hand over her and leaned against the wall. “You’re much shorter than me, not to mention you seem like a lost, scared little pup,” he pointed out next.

Unlike his sister, Cayden hadn’t been fond of the lycans.

Adam nodded to her words, following her as she lead him from the room, standing to his full height as they went, even as he wondered again... had he gone too far with his actions towards her... There was no way to know, without asking her, and he couldn't really do that in the open. He'd have to wait till they arrived at her room, even as he knew he'd flustered her.

Ash growled as Cayden spoke, her narrowed eyes meeting his rolled ones as he leant over and looked down on her, one of her hands moving suddenly to slam into his stomach, inevitably winding him in his unprepared state "Oh really? Lost and scared?" She grumbled in her false voice "Least I didn't leave myself open to an obvious strike... Guess you really do need a bodyguard, huh?" Ah. Well. At least she wasn't being shy?

Evelyn remained silent for the remainder of the walk there, her thoughts furthering into the idea of him no longer teasing her for fun but for other reasons. She gave a slight glance behind her to look at his face briefly. Once out of earshot from everyone else she suddenly turned to him. “Tell me honestly…” she began, her eyes looking up at his. “You truly..don’t think I’m just some spoiled princess, do you?” She asked him curiously but was wavering in her question.

Cayden was surprised, and then gave a smirk as he had been brought to his knees. He moved quickly and pinned Ash against the wall and kept his arms locked with his hands. “Well, that could be debated..” he murmured out as he pressed himself against Ash.

Adam blinked as she turned on the spot to him, blinking a couple of times as he processed what she said before shaking his head "No. Not at all. It was just a thing to be said, y'know? Like you telling me to know my place." He shrugged "If... you don't want to keep up the game, we can stop."

Ash blinked in mild surprise as Cayden went from on his knees to back standing, pinning her arms and pressing her to the wall, even as he'd be able to feel her body, trapped in place against his... and there was nothing to reveal the truth, she would still feel like a male. Even if she was very feminine... "Back off" She growled, but there was a nervous sound in her voice as she tried to get her arms free.

Evelyn gave a soft sigh in relief. “I’m glad,” she told him honestly, her pale skin giving an ever so pale blush. “Well..like this..I would like to drop the act,” she admitted then added, “but to keep up appearances…” her voice trailed off with a small smirk, “I think we can continue our little game,” she told Adam next. She was relieved to hear that he was just going along with their game and wasn’t genuine.

Cayden held onto Ash for a bit longer and gave a sigh. “Well, it certainly seems like you know how to manage your opponent,” he admitted, given Ash credit for catching him off guard. He then pulled away and resituated himself.

He caught the blush and then the smirk, nodding to her as she spoke "And you remember the words if it goes too far, right?" He asked, even as she'd remember them easily. Then he pointed to her door "Shall we head in, Princess?" he suggested, noting the blush and wondering if she'd want a more... in depth discussion behind closed doors... After all, they did both like each other...

Ash struggled a little more as Cayden held onto her, before giving one last growl as Cayden pulled away to resituate his clothes, but if the Vampire cared to look, he'd see a red flush on his new bodyguards face from their close proximity. And that close, pressed against Ash... even the normally stoic Cayden would have to admit his bodyguard was definitely cute... and scratched an itch somewhere deep inside, but that scratch only made him want more of Ash's close proximity...
