General RP Damnit, There's Kids Now! (Firestarter)

Derek smiles rests his hand on Kalin's thigh as they drive through town, eventually pulling up to a huge furniture store.

Derek nods and climbs out of the car, holding a hand out for Kalin, "I know baby. I'm planning on some of the furniture to be interchangeable with their age that way we aren't buying new furniture so frequently."

Derek smiles and leads Kalin inside, looking at different cribs, dressers, and even a few bunk-beds. "Did you want there to be a theme to the room or just something neutral?"

As they walk through the store, a saleswoman starts to follow closely behind. Once Derek looks at another crib, she walks up to him and places a hand on his arm, "You have a good eye for furniture sir. This is one of our nicest peices, perfect for a big, strong dad to lay his baby in."

Kalin blinks a d leans forward slightly to peer around Derek, "Babe, I think she's hitting on you." He snickers.

Derek sighs and glances at the woman before pulling his arm away, "More like being unprofessional and desperate."

The woman's eyes widen as she sees Kalin and takes a step back, "I-I was just...we um..."

Kalin smiles politely at the woman, "Sorry, my husband doesn't like getting touched by strangers. Makes him a little grumpy." He slides his hand down to Derek's.

Derek holds Kalin's hand firmly and takes a deep breath to calm down before walking away, pulling Kalin along gently. "We are fine to look around on our own, thank you."

Derek sighs and wraps his arm around Kalin, "I've had run ins with her before when I came here a few years ago....she still hasn't learned to leave me alone."

Kalin grumbles, and nuzzles closer to Derek, "Oh. Well. Next time she approaches, I'll bite her." He grins, clearly joking as he pauses before a crib. "How about this one?"

Derek smiles before looking at the specifications, seeing that the crib can be turned into a small twin bed over time, "I like it baby. It's perfect for when they grow out of the crib phase."

Derek chuckles and nods, "Of course. Do we want them the same color or did you want one in black and one in white?"

Derek checks the sign and nods, "They have deep mahogany one. I think it will look great."

Kalin smiles and nods, "Okay then." He tucks himself into Derek's side, quiet for a few moments

Derek smiles and wraps his arm tightly around Kalin as he grabs two tickets for the crib before walking over to the dressers. After finding one that has a changing table on top, Derek opens the drawers to check how deep they are. "What do you think of this one?"

Kalin watches Derek, "I like it." He smiles slightly, "I think that one would be perfect."

Derek smiles and grabs a ticket for the dresser. "Is there anything specific you would want to get for the room? A toy chest, padded floor mats?"

Derek tilts his head and smiles, "So long as we get plenty of books to read to them."

"I was also thinking a basket system too. On the shelf. Instead of having a chest, because. . . I dunno, I just think toys should be sorted." Kalin pauses and then laughs, "This coming for the guy who can't even keep his clothes sorted-"

Derek laughs and pulls Kalin into a soft hug, "You're getting better though. At least you're keeping dirty clothes in one pile inside of five."

"You'll get there sweetie." Derek kisses the top of Kalin's head before leading him over to the shelves. "Would you want there to be some that are mounted up on the walls along with larger ones for the heavier items?"
