Kalin bites his lip, looking at the sleeping Kas, "Still. . ." He whispers.

 

[Firestarter]

Trenton pats Kalin softly on the shoulder, "It's okay..."

 

[RhysTheFirebird]

Kalin glances at him, then picks Kas up from his crib and sits in a rocking chair, closing his eyes.

Javi glances at Trenton, then moves over to Kalin, rubbing his shoulder

 

[Firestarter]

Trenton looks out the window and sighs softly before moving to stand by heading to the kitchen to make some hot cocoa for everyone.

Kalin sways side to side, trying to calm his anxiety.

 

[Firestarter]

A couple hours pass with no sign of Derek. Trenton begins pacing around and checking his watch over and over again until he finally gets a call on his phone.

Kalin was asleep with Kas, quiet.

 

[Firestarter]

"Shit!" Trenton hisses, walking over to Kalin and gently shaking his shoulder. "Kalin...Kalin wake up."

Javi glances up, "What happened?"

Kalin grumbles softly, rubbing his eyes. "Mmm?'

 

[Firestarter]

"It's Derek..." Trenton says sternly. "He...he was hit by a truck."

 

[RhysTheFirebird]

Kalin blinks and then sits up, Javi taking Kas before Kalin- drops him, "What?!" He shakes his head, "He's okay though, right?"

 

[Firestarter]

Trenton swallows hard and tries to stop his hands from shaking. "He....We're going to the hospital now, come on."

 

[RhysTheFirebird]

"Hospital?!" He whines, shaking his head. He glances at Kas and then up at Javi, "You go get Demi from school when class ends for her and bring her home. Watch her and Kas, and just tell them that we're out for now, okay? We don't need Demi panicking." He mumbles, mostly incoherent, but Javi nods.

 

[Firestarter]

Trenton rushes to the garage, swinging the passenger door open for Kalin while struggling to maintain his composure.

Kalin slides in, quiet.

 

[Firestarter]

Closing the door for Kalin, Trenton runs around to the other side of the car, hops in, and quickly takes off towards the hospital. "It's going to be okay, Kalin...He'll be okay."

Kalin is dead silent, staring at his hands after buckling in.

 

[Firestarter]

Driving both quickly yet safely, Trenton pulls up to the hospital in almost record time before rushing around to Kalin's door. "Come on, Kalin."

 

[RhysTheFirebird]

*Kalin follows Trenton, still silent.

 

[Firestarter]

Walking into the hospital, Trenton leads Kalin to the check in desk and begins asking questions about Derek.

The nurse begins to look Derek up in there system before turning to look at Trenton and Kalin. "Are either of you a family member?"

 

[RhysTheFirebird]

Kalin swallows, "I-Im his husband." He whispers, barely audible, his fingers digging into the counter. "Kalin. . ." He offers up his name.

 

[Firestarter]

Nurse nods softly and finishes looking everything up in the system. "He's in our recovery wing at the moment, but you are both welcome to go and see him."

Trenton nods and gently takes Kalin's arm as the nurse stands and begins leading them back to where Derek is. "Come Kalin. I'm sure he'd love to see you right now."

Kalin goes back to being mute as he lets Trenton pull him along.

 

[Firestarter]

As they walk through the hall towards Derek's room, Derek groans and grunts in pain. "Ouch, dammit! Agh! Easy!"

 

[RhysTheFirebird]

Kalin squeaks and just moves past Trenton and the nurse, bursting/tumbling into Derek's room. He breaks down sobbing and just melts into the chair beside the bed. Bro doesn't even see Derek he's crying so hard-

 

[Firestarter]

Derek frowns as he looks at Kalin, breathing heavily after having his left shoulder popped back into place. His arms and torso are covered in scraps and bruises along with a harsh road burn on the side of his chin. "Kalin..."

 

[RhysTheFirebird]

Kalin's just a mess as he flops forward, shuddering as his face presses into the mattress next to Derek's hip.

 

[Firestarter]

Reaching down with his good arm, Derek gently pets the back of Kalin's head. "Baby, it's okay. I'm still here."

 

[RhysTheFirebird]

Kalin hiccups and sniffles, his shoulder trembling.

 

[Firestarter]

"Kalin, please look at me baby..." Derek's voice grows thick with emotion, only imagining what Kalin must have thought.
