"I know. . . I know. . ." He runs a hand through his hair.

 

[Firestarter]

Derek whines softly and looks down. "This sucks..."

 

[RhysTheFirebird]

Kalin blows out a breath, "Babe, it'll be okay. . ."

 

[Firestarter]

"I know....I'm still mad though."

 

[RhysTheFirebird]

Kalin reaches out, gently running his fingers through Derek's hair.

 

[Firestarter]

He leans into Kalin's touch and remains silent for a moment.

 

[RhysTheFirebird]

Kalin leans forward, gently kissing him, "I'm sorry."

 

[Firestarter]

"No, I'm sorry. I went out on my motor cycle and got hit by a truck...."

 

[RhysTheFirebird]

"I'm sure it's not your fault." He looks at Derek.

 

[Firestarter]

Derek grimaces and scratches the back of his neck with his free hand.

 

[RhysTheFirebird]

Kalin pauses, "Derek."

 

[Firestarter]

Derek remains silent and looks away.

 

[RhysTheFirebird]

"No secrets." Kalin murmurs, crossing his arms tightly.

 

[Firestarter]

Derek whines and looks down, "I...might have tried to run a red light while thinking i had enough time..."

 

[RhysTheFirebird]

Kalin's jaw tightens, "So, not only are there medical bills, there's your bike to be fixed, and then the insurance company to deal with. Do you know how-" He takes a deep breath, closing his eyes.

"No more bike rides for a long time. Especially when you're upset." He mutters, turning away.

 

[Firestarter]

Derek sighs and runs his fingers though his hair. "I know, I know...It's not like I asked to get hit by the truck. I was just having a little fun and thought I could make it."

 

[RhysTheFirebird]

"Oh, you asked to get hit the moment you bought running a red light was a good idea." Kalin snaps, facing him, "It's not a game, Derek. Just because you have the money to fix shit, doesn't mean I have the peace of mind to fix it."

 

[Firestarter]

Derek frowns, feeling like a kicked puppy. "I..I'm sorry..."

 

[RhysTheFirebird]

"You could have been killed, Derek." Kalin whispers, pressing his hand to his mouth and rocking back and forth on his heels.

 

[Firestarter]

Derek frowns while tears fill his eyes. "I'm sorry babe...I really didn't mean for this to happen." He reaches out for the other, grimacing in pain as he forgets to not use his bad arm.

Kalin trembles, glaring at Derek in reminder not to use his injure limb.

 

[Firestarter]

Derek sighs and drops his arms, feeling defeated.

Trenton enters the room with the discharge papers and clears his throat. "We should...head home now."

 

[RhysTheFirebird]

Kalin nods, "Help him up, please." He murmurs.

 

[Firestarter]

Trenton nods and moves to help Derek stand, being mindful of Derek's arm.

"Thank you...." murmurs softly, avoiding everyone's gaze.

Kalin sighs and pulls Derek's good arm around his waist.

 

[Firestarter]

Derek's arm hangs loosely around Kalin's waist as they all walk out of the hospital room, shuffling through the halls to get back to the car.

Kalin hugs, "Are you going to hold me or not?" He looks at Derek.

 

[Firestarter]

Derek nods and tightens his arm around Kalin a little as they exit the hospital.

Trenton frowns as he opens the doors to the car, waiting for everyone to climb in.

Kalin slides into the backseat, gently pulling Derek in and helping him.

 

[Firestarter]

Despite the pain, Derek plops into the back seat and reaches over to fasten Kalin's seat belt.
