After buckling Kalin's seatbelt, Derek works to buckle his own.

Trenton closes the door and climbs into the driver seat, buckling his own seatbelt before slowly pulling out of the parking lot.

Kalin leans into Derek, quiet.

 

[Firestarter]

Derek looks out the window as they drive home, remaining silent.

Kalin whines, "Derek. . ."

 

[Firestarter]

Derek turns to look at Kalin, his eyes still sad from what was said at the hospital. "Yeah?"

 

[RhysTheFirebird]

"I'm sorry. . ." He whispers, pressing closer, "I'm just. . . I was so scared, I was terrified."

 

[Firestarter]

Derek shakes his head, "You don't have anything to be sorry for."

 

[RhysTheFirebird]

"I do. I was mean."

 

[Firestarter]

Derek shakes his head and wraps his good arm around Kalin's shoulders, "Rightfully so.."

Kalin bites his lip

Derek presses a soft kiss to Kalin's forehead before looking out the window again.

Kalin relaxes against him

 

[Firestarter]

As the car pulls up to the house, Derek carefully climbs out of the car and holds his hand out to help Kalin.

Kalin takes his hand, quiet.

 

[Firestarter]

Leading the way inside, Derek walks into the living room and nods to Javi while Trenton stays by the door like usual.

Kalin smiles at Demi, leaning down and kisses her forehead, "Hey, pumpkin."

 

[Firestarter]

Demi smiles and hugs Kalin's legs tightly. "Hi Papa!"

 

[RhysTheFirebird]

Kalin laughs softly, leaning down to pick Demi up, "How are you?"

 

[Firestarter]

Demi giggles and wraps her arms around Kalin's neck. "I'm good. I missed you and Daddy."

 

[RhysTheFirebird]

Kalin nods, "I missed you too, pumpkin."

 

[Firestarter]

Derek smiles and steps closer, pressing a kiss to Demi's temple.

Kalin glances at Derek, "Sit down, okay? You should rest a bit." He smiles and sets Demi back onto the couch.

 

[Firestarter]

Sitting down with Demi, Derek sighs and lets his head fall back.

Demi smiles and snuggles close to Derek.

Kalin sits on the other side of Derek, taking his injured side so Demi didn't have to worry about hurting Derek. He kisses the other's cheek, "What do you wanna watch?"

 

[Firestarter]

Derek smiles a little and shakes his head. "Anything is fine."

Demi giggles and squeezes Derek good arm. "How about Frozen?"

Kalin bites his lip, silencing his groan as he nods, turning on the TV.

 

[Firestarter]

Derek clenches his jaw and glances at Kalin, already knowing the movie word for word.

 

[RhysTheFirebird]

Kalin, finds the movie and starts playing it, leaving in to whisper into Derek's ear, "We should try to get her into Bluey, or hell, even Phineas and Ferb."

 

[Firestarter]

"That's a complete understatment..." Derek murmurs through the side of his mouth, trying not to sigh heavily as Ana begins to sing the first song of the movie.
