Kalin blinks slowly, "Wait, how come I didn't know you had a sister?" Kalin looks at Derek.

 

[Firestarter]

"Because she's a snake who likes to ruin people's lives..." Derek glares at Jinny.

Jinny sighs and wraps her arms around herself, "Derek please...I want to show you that I've changed."

 

[RhysTheFirebird]

Kalin grumbles, "I thought we agreed no secrets." He crosses his arms, straightening. He looked a little hurt,but he stayed quiet.

 

[Firestarter]

Derek frowns, "Honestly...I completely forgot about her. She hasn't been in my life since I was 20."

"I'm sorry, please don't blame Derek. I didn't really give him a good reason to think fondly of me." Jinny says, leaning to the side to see Kalin.

 

[RhysTheFirebird]

Kalin snorts, "Good to know you just forget about family members. Have fun you too." He turns away, walking to check on the still crying Kas.

 

[Firestarter]

Derek frowns and tries to reach for Kalin, but is too late.

Trenton sighs and continues trying to rock Kas to sleep.

Kalin gently takes Kas from Trenton, holding him with a soft grunt, "Come on, bud. . ." He gently pats Kas's back, closing his eyes and sways side to side.

 

[Firestarter]

From the living room, Derek and Jinny can be heard arguing. Derek's voice grows angrier while Jinny's becomes thick with sadness and tears.

Trenton glances at the door with a sad look but remains silent.

Kalin stays dead silent except for his soft coos to quiet KS.

 

[Firestarter]

Trenton looks at Kalin, seeing the disappointment. "Kalin...please don't blame Derek for not telling you about Jinny. She's...never really be seen as a sister to him since he was young."

 

[RhysTheFirebird]

"You said the same thing about his family abusing their power. He also promised that there were no more secrets or things I didn't know. So bite me for being a little upset." Kalin glares at Trenton.

 

[Firestarter]

Trenton frowns and looks down. "I'm sorry....I'll keep my mouth shut.."

Back in the living room, Jinny starts to cry and gets louder. "Derek I'm sorry! I didn't think it things would go that far!"

Kalin sighs and gently hands Kas back to Trenton, "I'm not mad at you, okay?" He smiles at the other and then walks to the living room, "The baby is trying to sleep." He hisses, "Stop arguing or do it outside." He crosses his arms.

 

[Firestarter]

Jinny looks at Kalin with a broken expression. "I-I'm sorry...I'll just go." She walks back over to the door and grabs two gift bags, handing them to Derek. "These are for your children. I...wanted to give them something nice."

Derek watches as Jinny starts to walk away, his eyes flashing with anger.

Kalin glances at Derek, and then follows after Jinny, "I wanna talk to you, alone, if that's okay?"

 

[Firestarter]

Jinny nods and wipes her tears away. "Okay..."

Kalin smiles and leads her to the porch, plopping down onto a chair. "Well, while Derek is a little less hospitable when angry, I'm not. I'm Kalin." *He smiles at Jinny.

 

[Firestarter]

Jinny smiles back and runs her fingers through her hair to calm herself down. "It's nice to finally meet you, Kalin. I'm Jinny."

She looks down and takes a deep, shaky breath. "I'm really sorry for coming here out of the blue. I just...didn't know how else to go about it..."

 

[RhysTheFirebird]

Kalin shakes his head, "I'm not mad at you." He leans back, "Sit."

 

[Firestarter]

Talking a seat, Jinny places her hands in her lap. "I'm sorry Derek felt the need to hide me from you. It's my fault..."

 

[RhysTheFirebird]

"Oh?" Kalin tilts his head, fidgeting slightly with his ring.

 

[Firestarter]

Jinny nods and wipes her eyes. "Wh-when Derek and I were younger, I spread a nasty rumor about him doing something to my friend just because he didn't give me money whenever I asked for it and...it got bigger than I thought it was going to."

 

[RhysTheFirebird]

"How big?" Kalin murmurs, quiet, "If. . . You don't mind."

 

[Firestarter]

Jinny inhales sharply as she tries to keep herself from breaking down. "I...I started a rumor that he forced himself onto my friend that I knew he had turned down and it almost sent him to prison."

 

[RhysTheFirebird]

He blinks slowly, thinking, "Well, I can see why he's pissed."

 

[Firestarter]

Jinny nods and puts her head in her hands. "I thought I was just going to be able to get him to give me the money I asked for, but my friend at that time went crazy with the lie. Since he rejected her when she asked him out, she took it as a chance for revenge and started saying he beat her and that she almost got pregnant from him forcing himself on her."

 

[RhysTheFirebird]

He blinks slowly, "Well. . . It's not just your fault, it's also hers. You weren't intending to hurt him, were you?"

 

[Firestarter]

Jinny looks up with tears in her eyes. "At the time...I was. I was desperate to show him that I was superior, but now I just....I want my brother back..."

 

[RhysTheFirebird]

Kalin hums, "I'll talk to him, okay? For now just give me your number and text when you wanna see the kids. I'll figure something out."

 

[Firestarter]

Jinny sniffles and nods, "Thank you..." after handing Kalin her card, she slowly walks down the path to her car and drives away.

Back inside, Derek is in the baby room with Kas, rocking him gently to help him sleep.
